QuickReads | Innovation, Safety, and Community in Irvine

This summer, our City continues to champion innovation, safety, and opportunity — from empowering small businesses to expanding home improvement support and life-saving swim education. As my office welcomes new interns and highlights recent partnerships, the City of Irvine remains committed to building a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking community.

Highlights from Irvine’s First Business Executives and Owners Forum

I had the opportunity to speak at the City’s first Business Executives and Owners Forum, where we discussed how to strengthen Irvine’s business environment with insight from the Chamber and UCI’s Merage School of Business.

Key takeaways: improving access to capital, launching the Irvine Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and building a strong, sustainable talent pipeline.

Thank you to the Chamber and our Economic Development team for your great work in making Irvine a hub for innovation and growth.

Worldʼs Largest Swimming Lesson

I joined the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson at Wild Rivers to highlight the importance of learning to swim and preventing childhood drowning — one of the leading causes of injury-related death in the U.S. Thank you to MemorialCare and the Jasper Ray Foundation for supporting this lifesaving event.

Attorney General Rob Bonta Visits Irvine

Attorney General Rob Bonta recently visited Irvine, and I was pleased to share our City's key achievements and priorities. We discussed Irvine’s ongoing commitment to protecting residents' rights and building a community centered on inclusion, respect, and unity.

Welcoming Our Summer Interns: Jeshwin and Katie Join the Team!

Excited to welcome our summer interns, Jeshwin and Katie, who started earlier this week!

Jeshwin, a rising junior at Irvine High and Boy Scout, is eager to deepen his understanding of City policies and give back to our community.

Katie, a Portola High graduate who will be attending USC, is passionate about driving global change and engaging in local governance.

They’ve already hit the ground running — engaging with City staff and community members — and we look forward to supporting their growth and the fresh perspectives they bring this summer!
