Update from Our Summer Interns

Our summer interns have been exploring Irvine through hands-on tours and behind-the-scenes visits, gaining valuable insights from experts across City departments and community partners.

Highlights included a tour of the Irvine Ranch Conservancy’s Native Seed Farm, where they learned about habitat restoration and discovered that the farm produces more than 1,000 pounds of native seeds annually for over 50 native plant species. They also visited UC Irvine Libraries’ Special Collections & Archives, exploring historical collections and archival materials; toured the Frank R. Bowerman Landfill with OC Waste & Recycling; received a behind-the-scenes look at the Irvine Animal Care Center and the City’s Traffic Management Center; and connected with business professionals at the Greater Irvine Chamber's Good Morning Irvine networking breakfast.

Field of Valor

I invite you to visit the Field of Valor on the Irvine Civic Center Lawn. This inspiring display features 250 American flags, each honoring active-duty service members and veterans whose courage and sacrifice protect our freedoms. The flags will remain on display through July 31, offering a meaningful place to reflect, remember, and honor those who have served our nation.

Be Alert. Watch the Water. Wishing everyone a fun and safe summer around the water!
