Cartwright Family Apartments Ribbon-Cutting Celebration

We celebrated the grand opening of the Cartwright Family Apartments in Irvine’s Business Complex with a ribbon-cutting! This 60-unit affordable community is now fully occupied, showing the urgent need for affordable homes in our city. Thanks to the collaboration of C&C Development, Riverside Charitable Corporation, and all partners, we’re proud to have helped make this vision a reality for Irvine families.

Music, stories, and cake—you're invited!

Tomorrow from 6–7:30 PM, I’m welcoming everyone to the Rancho Senior Center patio for America at 250: The Stories We Share. Come unwind to the beautiful sounds of the Irvine Students Harp Ensemble and celebrate the stories that connect us.

It’s family-friendly and open to all. Please RSVP at the Eventbrite link below so we can get an accurate headcount for the cake!

Art at City Hall

We also launched our new exhibit, “20 Years Later: The Great Picture.” In 2006, pioneering artists transformed a massive hangar into a camera obscura, creating the world’s largest photograph—31 by 111 feet—featuring the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, now The Great Park. This exhibit celebrates that historic achievement and the collaboration of The Legacy Project: Burchfield, Chamberlain, Garnier, Johnson, McCulloh, and Spada.

Visit City Hall to experience this photographic milestone firsthand. Open now through December 11!

2026 Summer Interns

We’re excited to introduce our dynamic summer interns: Mahba, Jay, Allen, Orly, Teddy, Sanam, and Cherry (not pictured). They joined us last week and are already making an impact. These talented students — currently high school and college students right here in Irvine — bring enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and a strong desire to learn and contribute. We can’t wait to support their growth and see the innovative insights they’ll bring this season. Join us in welcoming them aboard!

Volar Apartments

Discover Volar Apartments — Irvine’s newest vibrant community at Martin Street and Campus Drive, just minutes from John Wayne Airport. Offering 876 modern residences with rooftop terraces, private courtyards, and shared spaces, it’s the perfect place to live, work, and connect. Enjoy a 1.06-acre park with playgrounds, a dog-friendly area, and community gardens — designed for everyone. Embrace sustainable living and a welcoming environment at Volar Apartments!

Gateway Village Groundbreaking

Exciting news! Last week, Irvine and Brookfield SoCal/AZ broke ground on Gateway Village — a 70-acre community with 1,138 homes, parks, and recreational spaces. It’ll connect to the 700-acre Gateway Preserve and Jeffrey Open Space Trail via a new pedestrian bridge, boosting outdoor fun and community connection. Thanks to everyone — Brookfield Residential, the Irvine Company, the Irvine Ranch Conservancy, City staff, and residents — for making this vision a reality!

Field of Valor - America 250

Join us at the Field of Valor on the Irvine Civic Center Lawn, now expanded to feature 250 flags honoring our brave active-duty service members and veterans who have dedicated themselves to protecting our freedom. From July 1 to July 31, we invite you to come by, experience the powerful display, and take a moment to reflect and pay tribute.
