This week, we came together to honor Memorial Day and pay tribute to the brave men and women who have selflessly served and sacrificed for our nation. It’s a meaningful time to reflect on their courage and commitment to defending our freedoms. Thank you for joining us in the 2026 Irvine Memorial Day Ceremonies, from the heartfelt candle lighting at Northwood Memorial to the respectful tribute in the Formal Garden at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park.
34th Annual Memorial Day Tournament
Last week, we proudly kicked off the 34th Annual Memorial Day Tournament — our largest yet with 378 teams from across the U.S. and Mexico. From 5U to 14U, young athletes are competing, having fun, and making lasting memories. A special thank you to Irvine PONY for hosting one of the nation's largest youth baseball tournaments and for bringing vibrant energy and community spirit to Irvine!
National Public Works Week
I had the honor of celebrating National Public Works Week with Irvine’s dedicated Public Works & Sustainability team, whose unwavering commitment exemplifies this year’s theme: “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community.” Their essential work — maintaining infrastructure and advancing sustainability — keeps Irvine safe, vibrant, and forward-moving every day. A heartfelt thank you to these everyday heroes for their service and dedication to our city’s future.
Capital Project Monthly Notification - May 2026
Exciting developments are underway in Irvine! Construction is progressing on several key projects to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and expand community amenities:
Upgrades to the Jamboree & Main Intersection to reduce congestion
Continued work on the Marine Way Undercrossing, with new channel boxes installed
Renovations at the Irvine Animal Care Center, including increased space and improved facilities
The JOST/I-5 Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge taking shape, with new trail extensions and railings
Multiple street, sidewalk, and utility upgrades, scheduled for completion by summer 2026
Stay informed about project updates and potential detours. These improvements are making Irvine an even better place to live, work, and visit.
Leadership Tomorrow Mayors Panel
I had the privilege of participating in the Leadership Tomorrow Mayors Panel. During the panel, Mayor John Stephens, Mayor Pro Tem, Mayor Austin Lumbard, and I discussed growth, challenges, and Irvine’s vision to become the Safest, Smartest, Greenest, Healthiest, and Kindest City. We focused on lessons learned about overcoming obstacles and the importance of listening to the community and leaders like Trevor.

The City of Irvine invites the community to attend the 32nd annual Studio Arts Festival Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Heritage Community Park, adjacent to the Irvine Fine Arts Center. Presented by Arts in Irvine, the free outdoor festival brings together artists and visitors from across Southern California for a day centered on creativity, craftsmanship, and community.
