Major Healthcare Milestones

Irvine continues to grow as a hub for healthcare and Medtech. Last month, we celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the new UCI Health Irvine Hospital—a state-of-the-art, fully electric, seven-story facility with 144 beds.

We also welcomed the grand opening of City of Hope Orange County’s 72-acre campus with the region’s only cancer specialty hospital. Congratulations to UCI Health Irvine and City of Hope! Good things are happening in Irvine's Healthcare and Medtech landscape.

Marine Adoption Toy Drive - Through December 13

This week, City Hall was bursting with holiday spirit as the Youth Action Team teamed up with the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee to collect toys for our 2/11 Marines. Thanks to our City staff, the committee, the community, and our amazing YAT members for helping brighten the season! The Holiday Toy Drive runs through December 13!

Quick drop-off at the Irvine Civic Center:

  • Sunday, Dec. 7, 9 a.m.–noon

  • Saturday, Dec. 13, 9 a.m.–noon

You can also drop a gift in one of nine collection bins across the City.

Irvine Civic Youth Initiative

Irvine Civic Youth Initiative participants, all 9th and 10th graders, gathered around the table to review the upcoming City Council agenda before next week's meeting. These passionate young leaders are getting a front-row seat to local government in action, building skills that will shape their future—and ours. I am proud to host this pilot program because investing in youth today means a stronger, more engaged community tomorrow.

Operation Bridge the Gap

My office, along with a driven coalition of City stakeholders, hosted an Emergency Food & Fund Drive to assist CalFresh recipients during the federal benefits disruption. I am proud to say our community came together and collected 3,300 pounds of food and $33,000 to support five Irvine pantries. Food security is so important—everyone in our City deserves access to nutritious, healthy food. I want to sincerely thank all our partners, especially the amazing and generous local businesses whose support made this possible.

Espresso YourselfMeet the Mayor!

We’ve hosted 11 Mornings with the Mayor (MwM) meetups so far, giving residents a chance to enjoy a cup of coffee and casual conversation with the Mayor on Saturday mornings. We’d love to see you at our next gathering! These meet-ups are all about engagement, idea-sharing, and keeping an open line of communication. The Mayor’s door is always open, so don’t stay home—come out, say hello, and bring your questions!
