Innovative Technology at FieldAI
I had the pleasure of visiting CEO Dr. Ali Agha and the talented team at FieldAI, an Irvine startup developing "universal AI brains" for the physical world. Their groundbreaking technology enables robots to navigate challenging environments independently, from construction sites to extreme landscapes. It's exciting to see such innovation happening right here in Irvine. Thank you to Dr. Agha for the demonstration, and to the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce and Orange County Business Journal for joining us.
Irvine Celebrates a Greener Future
Last week, Irvine celebrated its green future with impactful events. On Earth Day, Irvine families enjoyed breakfast and outdoor fun at Quail Hill Trailhead. In observance of Arbor Day, residents planted trees at Valencia Park and the Great Park, continuing our 36-year "Tree City USA" legacy. We also launched the Sponsor a Tree program and the Residential Tree Giveaway, offering residents ways to support and plant more trees. These efforts showcase our vision of Irvine as the Greenest City in America — a healthier, greener community for all.
37th Annual Irvine Junior Games
I was honored to attend the 37th annual Irvine Junior Games at Irvine Stadium — a true highlight of my year. As a proud supporter of the Irvine Children’s Fund from the very beginning, I am continually inspired by our students and the spirit they demonstrate. This event is about more than a track meet; it’s a vital fundraiser that supports affordable, reliable childcare at our elementary schools, helping our families thrive. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the dedicated volunteers and organizers who made this inspiring day possible.
Honoring Volunteers, Encouraging Community Service
It was a pleasure to honor our dedicated volunteers at both the Lakeview Senior Center’s Older Adult Services Volunteer Recognition Luncheon and the Irvine Animal Care Center’s Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. Our neighbors who volunteer their time and compassion — whether supporting our older adults or caring for animals — are truly the heart of our community. Their dedication, amounting to hundreds of hours of service this year, makes a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
City by City: Navigating Challenges Facing Our Immigrant Communities
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the City by City: Navigating Challenges Facing Our Immigrant Communities event. Your insights and dedication are vital as we work together to address the evolving needs of our immigrant communities across Orange County. It was inspiring to see leaders from various sectors come together to share ideas, experiences, and solutions. I look forward to continuing these important conversations and fostering collaborative efforts to support and strengthen our diverse communities.
Connecting with the Irvine Valley College Democrats
Thank you to the Irvine Valley College Democrats for welcoming me! I enjoyed visiting and hearing your perspectives on important issues. The energy in the room was inspiring, and I look forward to returning soon.
Join CicloIrvine on Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. along a 1.3-mile section of Irvine Boulevard. Bike to the event by parking at one of four nearby elementary schools (within eight minutes), taking the Irvine CONNECT shuttles (which carry up to two bikes, excluding e-bikes and fat tires), or parking on Viewpark Avenue with accessible parking at Santiago Hills Elementary.
Last week, we hosted the High School Art Exhibition Opening at Irvine City Hall. The annual showcase features artworks by emerging artists in digital media, drawing, painting, sculpture, and more, reflecting Irvine’s diversity and creative spirit. Let’s continue supporting young artists!
This exhibit will be on display until May 15, 2026.
