California Big City Mayors Advocacy Day

Nine mayors from California's largest cities convened in Sacramento to discuss shared priorities, including economic development, housing, and homelessness. This gathering provided an excellent opportunity to connect with state legislators and leaders and coordinate on effective solutions.

University of California, Irvine Partnership

UC Irvine has more than 36,000 students and offers 224-degree programs. It’s located in the City of Irvine and is Orange County’s second-largest employer, contributing $7 billion annually to the local economy and $8 billion statewide. This month, the City Manager and I accepted a generous support check from UC Irvine, marking four years of partnership that helps strengthen our City. Thank you, UC Irvine, for your ongoing commitment.

OC Mayor’s Panel at the New California Coalition

Common-sense solutions and a new era of opportunity! I joined Mayors Aitken, Stephens, Gabbard, and Kleiman at the NCC Luncheon, discussing housing, homelessness, middle-income jobs, and water and energy issues. It’s inspiring to see leaders working together to advance practical solutions for our communities.

I remain dedicated to engaging with our community. Over the past few weeks, I’ve participated in several meaningful events: Councilmember Liu and I recognized the Orange County Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for Nutrition Month, and I joined my colleagues in honoring members of the Iranian American Community Group and the Iranian American Women Foundation for Nowruz and Iranian American Heritage Month. The Police Chief and I also met with the Ismaili Muslim Community Delegation to celebrate Irvine’s diversity.

Additionally, I spoke with Henry Pullara, a UC Berkeley undergraduate researcher, about Irvine’s development, and connected with Jiwoo Park, a junior and staff writer for the Northwood Howler. I also held my monthly "Mornings with the Mayor" meeting at City Hall. Thank you to all community members who are interested in staying connected and engaged.
