QuickReads | Celebrating Service, Culture, and Growth in Irvine!

This month has been filled with vibrant celebrations, meaningful service, and inspiring community engagement throughout Irvine. From connecting with law enforcement at the IPD Open House to celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival under lantern-lit skies, our City shines thanks to the efforts of residents and City staff. Whether volunteering for CONCORDIAserves Day, supporting Troop 616, or celebrating new spaces at The Market Place, these moments highlight what makes Irvine a dynamic and connected community.

Don't forget — you're invited to Mornings with the Mayor on October 25. I look forward to hearing your ideas and discussing our City's future.

I was delighted to join the 7th annual CONCORDIAserves Day at Turtle Rock Nature Center, where I had the chance to connect with the Concordia men’s basketball team. Each year, Concordia students uphold this meaningful tradition of community service, making a real difference locally. Thank you to everyone who participated in today’s cleanup and helped support our parks. Special thanks to President Thomas, Vice President Jaeger, and the students for their commitment to strengthening our community.

The Market Place recently celebrated the grand opening of its vibrant Paradise Park plaza and expanded dining options. Home to more than 130 retail stores and restaurants, the Market Place remains a popular and ever-evolving shopping destination. The Market Place now exemplifies thoughtful mixed-use development — offering everyday amenities including shopping, dining, trails, open spaces, and community gathering areas.

Last weekend, I attended the 2025 Irvine Police Department Open House at City Hall, an event highlighting the dedication of our law enforcement officers. Their ongoing commitment to public safety is truly inspiring. This year also marked the Department’s 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades of community partnership.

On Friday, the community came together to celebrate the fifth annual Mid-Autumn Festival, in partnership with the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center. We also appreciate the support of 99 Ranch Market, Tokyo Central, and Cha for Tea in honoring this beautiful tradition. To view more picture, please visit Flickr at flic.kr/s/aHBqjCvC69

I had the pleasure of meeting with Troop 616 Irvine from Scouting America to discuss community concerns and explore how youth involvement can drive positive change. It’s inspiring to see young leaders who are ready to make a difference in our community’s future.
