QuickReads | New Libraries, Local Milestones, and Upcoming Events!

Thank you to the Irvine Police Department for hosting National Night Out at the Great Park. This annual event highlights the importance of strong relationships between public safety partners and the community, and it showcases the ongoing efforts to keep Irvine safe.

I met with Congressman Dave Min to discuss local concerns about immigration, including the impact of unannounced raids and their effects on neighborhoods. Our conversation focused on safety, transparency, and ensuring coordinated resources. We remain committed to staying informed and working together to support all communities.

Earlier this month, we celebrated the grand opening of the Irvine Public Libraries at Heritage Park and University Park. These modern spaces are designed to support education, connection, and lifelong learning.

Library Hours:

Monday–Thursday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Friday–Sunday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

For questions, call 949-724-4444.

We were also proud to celebrate the grand opening of the Intervention Center for Early Childhood’s (ICEC) new office. This important community resource provides occupational, physical, and speech therapy, along with infant development support for children and their families.

The Great Park continues to grow and thrive, with sports games, family gatherings, and open space for all to enjoy.

Current updates include:

  • Cultural Terrace nearly ready for museum and community partner construction

  • Turf replacement on Soccer Fields 4–7 finishing this month

  • Perimeter Park design nearing completion

  • New playground and landscaping improvements in the Bosque starting this fall

The City of Irvine is home to approximately 500,000 trees, with the City maintaining more than 75,000 of them to support a healthier environment and enhance the community’s beauty. Our most common species include Afghan Pine, Aleppo Pine, Canary Island Pine, Coastal Live Oak, and Brisbane Box. The City’s 30-year Urban Forest Master Plan aims to achieve 30% tree canopy coverage by 2055.
