Connecting with Irvine’s Community

FLAM Reaches Major Construction Milestone

A major milestone at the Great Park: the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum (FLAM) has topped out. Congratulations to retired Brigadier General Mike Aguilar, the Foundation’s president and CEO, and the entire team and Board. Opening in 2028, the museum will celebrate Marine Corps aviation through historic aircraft, artifacts, interactive exhibits, and hands-on STEM learning. Thank you to the veterans, donors, and Snyder Langston team helping bring this destination to life.

Celebrating 25 Years of the Irvine Global Village Festival

For 25 years, the Irvine Global Village Festival has brought our community together to celebrate culture and connection. To mark the milestone, the City of Irvine dedicated a tree at Lakeview Senior Center—the place where the beloved tradition began. A heartfelt thank-you to the Festival Committee and City staff whose dedication has kept this signature event thriving. May this tree — and the Festival — continue to grow, celebrating Irvine’s diversity and bringing neighbors together for generations to come.

Connecting with Irvine’s Community

Building a strong community starts with listening, learning, and working together. Recently, I had the opportunity to discuss local issues with student Nathasha, meet with the Junior League of Orange County, and take part in OCTechWeek. I also joined Open Mosque Day at the Islamic Center of Irvine and Ektaa’s Diwali celebration, and celebrated IL-DO Taekwondo’s 46th anniversary. Each conversation and gathering is a reminder of the people and organizations that make Irvine vibrant.

Bosque Enhancement Project Moves Forward

A refreshed landscape and community playground are coming to the area between Cadence and Benchmark — creating a welcoming spot for families and neighbors to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors. Design is underway for additional improvements within the project’s remaining budget, with construction expected to begin this month. The full project is anticipated to be complete by winter 2026–27.

A Safer Halloween Starts with a Few Simple Steps 🎃

Before heading out, help your family stay visible, stick together, and enjoy the night with confidence:

  • Bring a flashlight so kids can see — and drivers can see them.

  • Add reflective details to costumes, bags, or shoes.

  • Use sidewalks and avoid walking in the street.

  • Cross at corners and crosswalks; look both ways first.

  • Stay with trusted adults and never enter a stranger’s home.

  • Check treats before anyone takes a bite.

A little preparation goes a long way. Have fun, look out for one another, and enjoy a safe Halloween!

Irvine Seeks Input on 20-Year Library Master Plan

The City of Irvine is creating a 20-year plan for the Irvine Public Library — and your input can help guide what comes next. Share what matters to you, from library spaces and programs to staffing, services, and technology.

Notable Development Project: Discovery Park

Discovery Park could bring up to 1,858 apartments — including 310 affordable homes — and a 2.56-acre public park designed for play, recreation, and community gatherings. Plans include play areas, a dog park, bocce courts, and walking paths, plus landscaped courtyards, retail space, residential amenities, and connections for people walking and biking.
