After being shuttered since March 2020 when Covid took hold of our day-to-day lives, last week’s City Council Meeting was once again open to in-person public participation.

Last week, the City of Irvine took important steps toward delivering on an ambitious Climate Action Plan.

Over the last week, several memos issued by Councilmember Agran have been added to the the Meetings & Memos page.

In response to residents’ continuing concerns about street racing and modified exhaust enforcement, Councilmembers Agran and Kuo agendized a presentation by the Irvine Police Department on the topic.

At last night’s City Council Meeting, the City Council discussed the future of the Veterans Memorial Park and Cemetery at the Great Park. Dozens of people shared their opinions late into the night. In the end, the Council took no action despite a detailed resolution presented by Councilmember Agran.

At today’s City Council Meeting, Councilmember Agran will recognize Friends of Outreach and Rainbow Rising with $2000 each in Community Partnership Grants.

“Together with Councilmember Anthony Kuo, I have agendized a presentation by the IPD to update the City Council and the community on their efforts to respond to the dangers associated with these activities,” explains the Councilmember.

The Meetings & Memos page has been updated with a new memo documenting Councilmember Agran’s request to agendize a presentation by the Irvine Police Department on enforcing the laws against loud and racing vehicles.

It was announced at this week’s City Council Meeting that beginning later this month Council Meetings will once again be open in-person public participation.
